Oscar are known as one of the aggressive freshwater fish which it is important to choose the suitable tank mates to mix them in the aquarium. The fish will flee from Oscar fish rather than fighting. It is recommend to provide hiding spot for the firemouth cichlid. Prepare rocks or caves which the fish can hide from Oscar fish. The fish are easy to care and they can live comfortable in the temperature of 25-28°C which are the same with Oscar fish.
Black Convict Cichlid
The black convict cichlid would make a great Oscar fish tank mates and the fish don’t grow up to 15 cm. The fish can make a great tank mates with Oscar fish because the fish are tough, hardy and fierce to hold themselves against Oscar fish. Keeping the black convict cichlid together with Oscar fish when the fish is about the same size.

This fish are pretty famous and the fish are feed with algae. Many aquarists purchase this fish purpose to keep the aquarium clean and less cleaning the aquarium. Keeping this Plecostomus as Oscar fish tank mates, there are some condition you have to consider.
Pleco have sharp spines on it fins and it is a huge threat for a hungry Oscar fish. The Oscar fish will try consume the pleco which end up a result of both fish dying. Housing the pleco fish together with Oscar fish, house them in a 100 gallon aquarium which Oscar fish are aggressive. The pleco fish can reach a maximum size of 50 cm if they are well care.
